Corey Haim’s story is sadly familiar in Hollywood: A teen talent who discovered drugs as he tasted his first success and whose personal problems increased as his star-power faded. Haim died Wednesday at 38, another chapter in Hollywood’s tragic history of careers ravaged by drugs. TMZ is reporting that 80’s heartthrob Corey Haim, 38, died this morning of an apparent accidental overdose. The LAPD says they were called to St. Joseph’s hospital in Burbank, CA shortly before 4AM PT to investigate. Haim became famous in the 80s, co-starring in a number of films like License To Drive, Dream A Little Dream and The Lost Boys with Corey Feldman. Story is still developing… Wow, this is sad. Ryan O’Neal says he can’t believe the decision by the Academy Awards to omit Farrah Fawcett from the “In Memoriam” segment of Sunday’s show. “It was a terrible decision and very hurtful,” O’Neal tells Radar Online. “Farrah was a member of the Academy for over 40 years and we could not believe she did not get a mention.” Patrick Swayze, Michael Jackson and Brittany Murphy were included in the segment. On Sunday night during the Oscar’s “In Memoriam” segment, stars such s Michael Jackson, Patrick Swayze, Brittany Murphy, Ron Silver were remembered. However, Farrah Fawcett was amazingly left out of the segment. Many people, including Ryan O’Neal, Farrah’s longtime partner, were shocked and disappointed that the Academy could make such a glaring omission. O’Neal and Tatum, Farrah’s son, are planning to write a letter to the Academy. In response, Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences spokeswoman Leslie Unger said, “Every year, it’s an unfortunate reality that we can’t include everybody.” What a pathetic response.
